Biographical Sketch James W. Gottfried (Jim) Mr. Gottfried has 40 years in systems and software engineering development and project management. This experience spans real-time aerospace and defense systems, commercial transportation systems, and commercial information technology systems. Mr. Gottfried's specialized expertise is the management of large electronic systems and software engineering projects such as aircraft avionics. Mr. Gottfried served on several industry/DoD advisory panels including supporting the USAF's development of the Software Development Capability Evaluation (SDCE), an independent assessment of the Crusader program, and a software cost reduction review of the B-1b program. Mr Gottfried has also served as an expert advisor in systems engineering in civil arbitration. Mr. Gottfried is currently is the Chief Engineer and Asst. Vice President for the Logistics and Engineering Solutions Business Unit of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Mr. Gottfried recently was the program manager for the $10M+ ATC Radio Upgrade program. Mr Gottfried currently is actively involved in supporting proposals and performing proposal reviews for large competitive proposals. Mr. Gottfried has also provided management consulting for large system and software development programs. His clients have included many of the largest defense/aerospace firms as well as the USAF. Prior to joining SAIC in 1993, Mr. Gottfried was with Lockheed Corporation as the Chief Engineer for Software and Computer Resources on the F-22 Advanced Tactical Fighter program. The F-22 was a $10 billion USAF program encompassing over 4 million lines of code. The F-22 program achieved an excellent reputation in the USAF and DoD for its software management and technical innovations and risk abatement. Prior to the F-22 program, Mr. Gottfried managed various systems and software engineering organizations for Lockheed and Hughes Aircraft Co with up to 300 staff. Mr. Gottfried has an MS degree in mathematics from the University of Colorado and a BA degree from the University of California, Irvine. Mr. Gottfried is a certified Program Management Professional (PMP).
