Written Report Hints
Title page should be centered and arranged nicely to include your class time, date,
and title
Title should indicate exactly and specifically what you will cover. (Can’t be just one
word!)
Don’t underline your title in the title page or the word bibliography in the
bibliography page
Don’t have subdivisions in a short paper
The paper must be double-spaced
Don’t double space between paragraphs
Justify your text. It looks neater.
Use a 12-inch font with a normal type font. Don’t use script fonts
Leave a one-inch margin around your text in each page
Don’t write back to back on your pages. Paper should be only one-sided.
Number your pages – usually right hand side at the top
Double space after periods and there should be a space after commas
Don’t end sentences with a preposition
Don’t quote anything without giving them credit (author, page #)
Don’t use second person….”YOU”. I don’t want to be part of your paper.
Use correct form for the bibliography. Author’s name first, then title, then publisher,
then date.
Alphabetize your bibliography by author’s last name.
Underline only your titles in your bibliography page. (Visit the Library form to help
you)
Don’t number your entries in your bibliography page
Don’t use our textbook or study guide as a research source…. that is NOT research.
