The full grant application must be circulated for internal approvals at least 3 working days before the submission deadline. Timescale Guideline 6 weeks before deadline. Submit the grant application proforma to RDO (Tina Lehmbeck) and REC (Richard Chambers) 6 weeks before deadline (applications may be refused if insufficient notice is given). Consult Technical Services Manager for any technician / equipment requirements / costs If co-funding is required from School, alert Head of School. Draft budget must be complete for HoS consideration. 4 weeks before deadline If Ethical Review is required before submission, initiate review with the Research Governance Committee http://www.sussex.ac.uk/mps/internal/research/ethics If required, ask the HoD / HoS for letter of support. 3 weeks before deadline Draft budget completed 3 weeks before deadline Initiate pre-submission review of the near-final draft with your critical friends. 2 weeks before deadline Budget finalised and bid paperwork circulated for internal approvals (paperwork submitted to Research and Enterprise Coordinator). If near-final draft is not available, project outline must be circulated with financial reports. Note that approvals paperwork will not go to Research & Enterprise until the ‘Pre-Submission Review’ document has been completed and submitted to REC. Submit the proposal to the funder For proposals where RDO needs to confirm submission (online institutional approval), 1 day before deadline unless otherwise agreed. 4 weeks before deadline 3 weeks before deadline At least 3 working days before deadline Post-Decision Follow Up Please inform the Research and Enterprise Coordinator (REC) and Research Development Officer (RDO) as soon as you receive notification that your grant has been approved or has been unsuccessful. A ‘PostOutcome Review’ should be conducted within a month of the decision.
