Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Storage Area Network Engineer assists in the administration of Windows platform servers in a team environment. The individual is responsible for managing the Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure, providing routine technical administrative support for servers, developing computer scripts and applications, and document procedures and server configuration information. The position is part of the Campus Information Systems department, reporting to the Server Manager. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job. 50% - Manage Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure - responsible for: Operational infrastructure, which requires planning, installation, testing and maintaining system storage arrays Maintaining and improving strict technical standards as they relate to performance and availability Serving as technical lead for project implementation Driving technical site escalations to conclusion Providing leadership examples to junior staff members 30% - Provide routine technical administrative support for servers in the assigned area to include assisting in the installation of software, updates and security patches, administering backups, providing user support as needed, and monitoring system performance and log files 10% - Develop computer scripts and applications to facilitate both end user and system administration tasks 10% - Document procedures and server configuration information 3.
