Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Program Coordinator, Direct Service Programs, has two major functions: 1) Serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) for the state-funded Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program, providing overall coordination for program operations, client recruitment, vendor relations, budget, staffing, and grant preparation, management and reporting, and 2) program coordination support for the Senior Outreach Services (SOS) program, including collaboration with the SOS Coordinator, staffing, recruitment, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, program coordination includes ensuring all objectives of the Sanford Center for Aging (SCA) program(s) within the scope of responsibility for the position are being met. These projects may include enrollment, reports, standard operating procedures, database management and analysis, and written publications. The position reports directly to the SCA Director and collaborates with all SCA staff, Division of Health Sciences (DHS) and University of Nevada, Reno colleagues. 2. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 55% - Program Coordination Serves as PI for management and implementation of the Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Nevada Aging and Disability Services project grant Meets goals and objectives of ongoing grants Publicizes programs through brochures, newsletters, and outreach presentations Enrolls elder clients into programs per grant requirements and given inclusion/exclusion criteria Collaborates with relevant project stakeholder groups and statewide organizations Trains and manages staff and contractors as needed Meets with and advises funders on behalf of SCA, as required Takes the lead on researching, developing, and writing grant proposals for continuing and new program funding 20% - Program Coordination Support - Senior Outreach Services (SOS) Provides direct support to the Coordinator, Senior Outreach Services, in meeting all operational goals for the SOS program Supports client and volunteer recruitment and outreach efforts Supports volunteer training and orientation Supports client-volunteer matching procedure Assesses program functions and operations (preparation of program standard operating procedures) Consults on grant compliance, monitoring and reporting Advises SOS student worker activities Acts as a resource to SOS Coordinator on all SOS program functions Position Description – Program Coordinator, Direct Service Programs (SCA) Page 3 20% - Compliance and Reporting Prepares and submits annual, quarterly, and monthly grant proposals and regular grant reports as required Regularly communicates with funder through reports and updates Reports project features, impact and evaluations results to media outlets and relevant literature 5% - Administrative Operations Collaborates with SCA Director on sustainability options and overall SCA program integration 3. Level of Freedom: SCA programs are in part funded by program grants and contracts, i.e., Nevada State Aging and Disability Services Division, Marion G. Thompson Trust Foundation, etc. The incumbent is involved in planning, development, oversight, and analyzing results for two key SCA community outreach programs, as well as the overall program coordination of one program. The position makes independent decisions on daily operations and management of the primary grant(s) by identifying clients, researching eligibility, slotting participants into the appropriate program, negotiating contracts with vendors, managing and maintaining budgets, etc. The Program Coordinator consults with the Director on more complex issues or problems requiring a higher level authority for resolution, i.e., client relations issues, vendor services disputes, or scope of work implementation or changes. Impact: Continued funding is dependent upon the quality and quantity of efforts. Grant management directly impacts the Center’s relationship and reputation with grant agencies. The production of timely reports, accurate analyses and the attainment of grant goals are essential for continued and future funding. In addition, the efficient management and promotion of programs benefit the welfare of elders and public through better service and awareness. Evaluation and grant development are essential for the validation of grants and programs; the publication of positive changes and services provided by the programs; and the innovation and funding of additional programs to improve the lives of elders. The quality of work performed, as achieved through the leadership capacity of this position, brings recognition to the quality of the University as a whole through publications and service to the public. 4.
