Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Physician, Mojave Adult, Child and Family Services, performs the duties of a clinical physician at the Mojave Adult, Child and Family Services (MACFS) in Reno or Las Vegas which is under the Family and Community Medicine (FCM) at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine (UNSOM). Responsibilities of the position include evaluation and treatment of patients at MACFS outpatient clinics, teaching duties as assigned, and collaboration with the Medical Director in utilization review/quality assurance. 2. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 85% - Evaluation and Treatment of Patients Perform the duties typically associated with a physician in an outpatient setting to include: o Patient examination and evaluation o Diagnosing and treatment of psychiatric illnesses o Ordering and interpreting tests o Documentation of clinical activities o Other related duties 10% - Nursing and Medical Students and Residents Training and Supervision Supervise nurses in the delivery of patient care in collaboration with Director of Nursing Train Medical Residents and Students on an individual and/or small group basis as assigned 5% - Utilization Review and Quality Assurance Collaborate with the Medical Director, MACFS, in utilization review and quality assurance activities to include peer review and billing/coding audits 3. As clinicians, accurate and complete performance of the job duties associated with this position is crucial to patient health. Failure to perform as expected could result in substandard patient care. The Physician must take initiative and use own judgment in conducting his/her responsibilities. The incumbent has considerable latitude for independent action, establishes procedures and priorities, and is evaluated on short- and long-term clinical outcomes and adherence to accepted standards of clinical care. . The individual is expected to provide leadership in the performance of the responsibilities of the position in order to insure the success and credibility of the clinic’s work and the reputations of MACFS, UNSOM, and the Nevada system of Higher Education (NSHE).
