1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is
used for advertisement of the position.)
The Functional Analyst/Quality Control Specialist (Admissions and Records) is responsible for
insuring data integrity in the PeopleSoft Student System for admissions or records/registrar functions.
This position conducts functional systems testing, troubleshoots functional problems, manages the
Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) universal person identification for the University of
Nevada, Reno (UNR), and creates and runs quality control reports and other system queries for data
extraction. This position works closely with the Assistant Registrar for Student Information Systems
and Information Technology (IT) to ensure timely and efficient solutions for all software related
functional needs within the student system. The position reports to the Assistant Registrar for Student
Information System Management and Operations.

60% - Data Integrity/Quality Control
 Maintains and oversees data integrity including management and quality control of student
admissions and enrollment data
 Troubleshoots functional problems, making a determination if the problem is functional or
technical
 Coordinates technical issues with the Assistant Registrar for Student Information System and
IT
 Writes and runs quality control reports aimed at error detection and resolution within
Admissions and Records
 Supervises error resolution among Admissions and Records staff
 Conducts student system functional testing
 Designs and runs system queries for identifying system data integrity errors
 Insures compliance with government technical reporting standards, oversees external data
transmission to third party governmental agencies e.g. Dept of Education
 Assists with staff training in Admissions and Records in the functional use of the student
information software
 Assists with the analysis of workflow within Enrollment Services to insure maximum data
integrity
 Assists with the evaluation of effectiveness of interdepartmental student enrollment workflow
 Assists with identifying necessary changes in operating policies and procedures as a result of
software limitations/capabilities
 Assists with the management of Admissions and Records web applications
20% - NSHE Universal Id
 Manages UNR’s implementation of the NSHE universal ID assuring quality control in the
reduction of duplicate records
 Supervises duplicate record resolution
 Implements quality control measures for NSHE Universal ID processing
 Serves as the NSHE institutional contact for universal ID issues

20% - Data Extraction/Assessment
 Extracts data that assists in determining the effectiveness of student information system
functional user productivity in Admissions and Records
 Extracts data for enrollment management initiatives
 Assists with the development of reports to be used by campus end users
 Oversees the accuracy of ongoing operational data to support enrollment management
 Assists and supports the Assistant Registrar for Student Information System by providing data
to make decisions about improvement of Enrollment Services functional processes

Level of Freedom:
This position exercises independent judgment in the development and implementation of
methodologies that support quality control and data integrity..
Level of Impact:
The effectiveness of Enrollment Services programs is dependent upon producing accurate and timely
data. The impact of inattention to data integrity directly affects the university’s ability to admit and
enroll students and award financial aid. Failure to provide accurate and timely data could result in the
inability of the division to register and graduate students.
Failure to identify functional user errors could result in high error rates in data entry and delays in
processing student records, resulting in student and faculty dissatisfaction and poor student retention.
The reporting of inaccurate information to federal and state agencies could result in the loss of Title IV
funding and the university’s regional accreditation.
