3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The Director works independently with a high degree of autonomy and decision making in sensitive
matters. The incumbent collaborates with Business Center North (BCN) and Faculty Human
Resources offices and General Counsel to achieve resolution of problems and make decisions on the
following: whether sexual harassment or discrimination has occurred, ADA accommodation
requests, and whether departments need departmental-specific training. The Vice Provost is
consulted in cases warranting disciplinary action and apprised of discrimination or harassment
incidents and involved in establishing goals.
Impact:
The decisions and judgments made by the Director impact the University and are critical to ensuring
that UNR is compliant with Federal and state rules and regulations. A lack of accessible training
and/or monitoring training compliance increases the University’s exposure to sexual harassment
and/or discrimination. The Director provides sound professional direction and leadership in promoting
