Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The digital communications staff in Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) is responsible for the video, audio, internet video and audio streams, social media, and other digital production of athletics events at the University of Nevada, Reno. The positions collaborate with the Mountain West Conference (MWC) and other university entities under its umbrella to ensure new digital initiatives are followed in the overall creation and presentation of athletics events to the public. Range 1 – Digital Specialist: The Digital Specialist is primarily responsible for video, audio and other digital production related to the University’s ICA program including daily management of internet streaming, highlight packages, profile features, stadium/arena video board, official athletics website, and social media. The position reports to, and works closely with, the Digital Coordinator. Range 2 – Digital Coordinator: The Digital Coordinator is responsible for overall and hands on production of all live athletics event broadcasts and other video/audio/digital elements related to the University ICA program including daily management of internet video and audio streams, video production of press conferences and other department events, coordination with MWC and other University entities on video and digital elements and game day execution of video board. The position delegates work to and mentors, supervises, and evaluates the Digital Specialist. The position reports to the Associate Athletics Director, Communications. 2. Range 1 – Digital Specialist: 40% - Digital Production Create video features (e.g. player interviews, promotional videos, game highlights). Scout shoot locations and execute shoots on-site/on-location including lighting, audio, camera. Working with team coordinator on content and objectives, edit and assemble broadcast-quality audio and video, ensuring brand compliance, relevancy and consistency with production goal. Distribute media including video, audio, graphics, animation, music, photographs, etc. using multiple formats to variety of social media channels including YouTube. Assist with production, streaming and archiving of press conferences, including post-game press conferences from football and men’s and women’s basketball 25% - Live Event Broadcast Assist the Digital Coordinator in all elements of live audio and video streaming and broadcasts on the NevadaWolfPack.com website including intercollegiate athletics contests, press conferences, coaches shows and special events in accordance with Mountain West Conference initiatives. While there is oversight of the position and the end-products, the incumbent has the freedom to make decisions, initiate programs, and apply individual creativity in the development of video and webbased products. The position has supervisory oversight of the Digital Specialist and must ensure compliance with MCW, ICA and University policies and guidelines in relation to digital communication of athletics events. Impact: Range 1 – Digital Specialist and Range 2 – Digital Coordinator: Digital content created by the positions has high visibility in the community and nationally; thus, decisions directly impact the image of ICA and the University. Poor performance, resulting in inadequate and/or inaccurate communication and poor quality products, may impact ticket sales, donations and donor relationships, and recruiting efforts. 4.
