Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. (This section is used for advertisement of the position.) The Deputy Director of Athletics is an upper-level management position reporting directly to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA). The position is the senior most among the administrative staff in the department and is the primary point of contact in the absence of the Director of ICA and represents the department at National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) conference and other related meetings when the Director of ICA is unable to attend. The position is directly involved in the strategic direction and daily operations of ICA, including general oversight of all facets of the operations within the university’s ICA program. The position has daily oversight and management of specific assigned sports programs. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 35% - Athletic Development Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors in support of the capital improvement strategic plan in coordination with central Development and utilizing action tracking through the central development database Serve as the Executive Director of ICA’s umbrella fundraising unit, the Athletic Association University of Nevada (AAUN), acting as liaison to the Board of Directors and serving as an exofficio member of the Board 30% - Administrative Management of Special Initiatives Manage multi-year partnerships and oversee performance of external contractors including sponsorship sales, ticket sales and foodservice Direct involvement in the design and implementation of the capital improvement strategic plan Ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and university rules and regulations (subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures) 20% - Sports Administration Oversee assigned sports program(s) Coordinate with Senior Women’s Administrator (SWA) institutional representative on compliance and related initiatives Oversee budget, daily operations, and other associated tasks Attend as many contests as possible to show support for the student-athletes and coaching staff 10 %- Special Projects Assist the Athletics Director in establishing overall athletics goals, objectives and strategies Develop and implement programs and processes to accomplish goals, improve the image of the University and attract and retain students. 5% - Supervision Supervise and evaluate all direct reports including coaches of assigned programs Position Description – Deputy Director, Athletics Page 3 3. Level of Impact: The position is directly involved in the strategic direction and daily operations of ICA, including general oversight of all facets of the operations and has the freedom to make independent decisions at almost every level without consulting the Athletic Director. The position is critical to the smooth functioning of the ICA Department on daily basis. Impact: If the individual makes poor decisions it directly affects the overall direction of ICA. 4.
