Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Nevada University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCED) is administratively housed in the Research and Educational Planning Center (REPC) and has a campus, statewide, and national focus. The UCED offers multidisciplinary training, provides exemplary services, disseminates information, provides technical assistance, and conducts relevant research and evaluation projects in special education and disabilities areas. Activities are supported through the Administration on Developmental Disabilities and through related grants and contracts from federal, state, and private sources. The Coordinator, UCED Data Systems is the data management specialist providing technical expertise and guidance to REPC and NV UCED project teams (software developers, project engineers/scientists) to determine technical direction, and/or solve complex data problems on projects or parts of major projects. The incumbent is responsible for establishing and coordinating data management for all sponsored research, development and training projects of state and national significance in education and related social science areas housed in the REPC. 2. Knowledge: Strong understanding of the full lifecycle development process of data management systems, including reading and understanding business requirements and functional requirements, developing detailed technical designs, and implementing testable solutions. The Coordinator understands and works with a variety disciplines and translate program/project needs into effective and coherent data work flows with appropriate management/evaluation output. The Coordinator communicates with external fund sources, the national office of the UCED, as well as other Campus departments and Campus Computing. The incumbent communicates with software programmers in order to set and enforce stringent quality controls while maintaining a cooperative software development environment .
