ADMINISTRATIVE FACULTY JOB DESCRIPTION APPROVED POSITION INFORMATION (to be completed by HR) Effective: May 1, 2015 Title Range JCC 3 67674 Coordinator, Innovation and Transformation Essential Function: Light Work Description: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling. 1. The Coordinator, Innovation and Transformation, is responsible for developing the Innevation Center to create an environment which fosters ideation, innovation, prototyping, fabrication and advance manufacturing techniques in support of innovation within the region. The position will focus on additive and subtractive machining, 3-D printing, composites, and traditional fabrication. The incumbent will manage the MakerSpace, the incubation space, promote creation of new robotic machinery by managing the facility space, available equipment, and resources to support students and members in their innovative and start-up efforts. The incumbent will provide direct academic instruction, coordinate educational events, coordinate Innevation Center meeting space usage, assist in marketing the Innovation Center, inspire members of the Innovation Center University faculty, staff and students, and facilitate relationships between members of the community. * Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division. 2. If line of progression, define for each range as above. 50% MakerSpace Management Manage the operations of the MakerSpace in the Innevation Center Build and foster an environment for creative interaction and education Facilitate relationship building amongst the Innevation Center members, potential customers, UNR faculty, staff and students Initial point of contact for members who need help with product design, prototyping and design, provides strategic consultation to members based upon needs and center services Assist the Innevation Center Manager with reviewing and deciding which events will be offered in the Innevation Center; event coordination (team-building events, hack-a-thons, STEM education events) 1 Coordinator, Innovation and Transformation Manage interns who will help with the MakerSpace operation, assist members with their prototyping needs, and help with organization of various events in the Innevation Center Research and orders equipment, and supplies/consumables as needed for the Innevation Center 20% Instruction and Programming Develop targeted educational programs to enable members and students to safely and effectively utilize the equipment, tools, and machinery Teach classes in computer aided design and computer aided machining to members of the Innevation Center Teach classes on advanced manufacturing techniques, such as 3-D printing, composites, etc. Train members on the safe use of MakerSpace equipment Work with UNR and other instructors in organizing classes as 20% Building Operations Coordinate with UNR IT to ensure continuous operation of communications and ITrelated equipment Coordinate the day-to-day maintenance activities for the Innevation Center Arranges maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment with university Facilities Services or external vendors and contractors, as appropriate Work with Facilities Services to maintain accurate building floor plans Maintain “building” statistics and produces reports as required – seating capacity, building use, etc. Coordinate with and assists managers and building occupants with the purchase, delivery, installation, and maintenance of equipment and other furnishings Maintain up-to-date inventory of non-department specific furnishings and equipment; coordinates surplus property disposals 10% Emergency Management and Safety Collaboratively works with UNR Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to develop internal policies for the safety and security of staff, users, materials, equipment, and facilities; oversees implementation of policies Serve as primary liaison with university, city and other authorities to ensure that the Innevation Center is safe for staff and users and ensures building compliance with official recommendations Engage EH&S to conducts routine building safety checks, e.g. fire hazards, obstructed exits, poor signage Teach and demonstrate safety rules, policies, and etiquette associated with equipment in the MakerSpace and elsewhere in the Innevation Center. 3. The incumbent is expected to coordinate the daily use of building space and resources independently, apprising the Manager of problems with fiscal or political consequences. The incumbent will collaborate with the Manager in developing an effective marketing strategy, event coordination in terms of which events will be held and in which timeframes, and significant purchases.
