1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is

The Coordinator, Early Head Start (EHS) Enrollment & Reporting, coordinates EHS eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance pursuant to Head Start Performance Standards.
The position coordinates parent involvement activities, such as parent involvement in the Policy
Council and special events, and referrals to promote family self-sufficiency. Additionally, the
Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of compliance and assessment activities related to program services for children and families. The Coordinator assures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Federal rules, and all applicable state and local regulations.
The Coordinator reports to the Director, Child and Family Research Center.

40% - Recruitment, Eligibility, Selection and Enrollment
Promote Early Head Start programs in the community to recruit new families
Determine eligibility based upon qualifying factors (ex. review tax returns)
Select qualified families for enrollment
Coordinate the enrollment of new families
Coordinate attendance records and reporting for compliance
35% - Program Assessment
Design and implement ongoing assessment and evaluation to ensure compliance with EHS
Performance Standards and other mandatory regulations
Maintain updated reporting and monitoring schedules and briefing meetings
Administer the ChildPlus & Redcap databases by ensuring proper security access, ensuring the system can properly collect data, programming annual health requirements
Assist in preparation of annual refunding application, program information reports, community needs assessment and other reports as required
Ensure EHS shared governance requirements are met by providing training, coordinate Policy
Council meetings
Ensure EHS delivers high quality services
15% - Promote Family Self-Sufficiency
Plan and coordinate parent involvement activities and trainings
Recruit and train volunteers providing education and outreach to families
Maintain family educational resources to promote family self-sufficiency
Maintain referral resources (ex. food stamps, welfare, mental health, and other social services)
Train staff to recognize issues requiring a referral
10% - Management
Provide direct supervision to the Health Coordinator and Administrative Assistant
Train, direct, review and oversee all work activities
Conduct annual performance appraisals, discipline

Level of Freedom:
The Coordinator represents the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Early Head Start Program and the
CFRC on issues related to the program and must display highly ethical conduct in the provision of high quality early childhood education and care. The position is very visible to the public through interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community groups. The individual works closely with the
Director on decisions associated with the position, but must work independently, with initiative, and with some latitude in decision-making.
Impact:
The work of the Coordinator impacts the quality of service rendered to participants on the Program.
This position is visible to the public and therefore has a direct impact on the perception of and reputation of the Program and the Center.

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
b. Minimum type and amount of work experience, in addition to the above required education necessary for a person entering this position.
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in early childhood education, human development or family studies and the administration of a Head Start or Early Head
Start Program to include staff supervision
