Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the University. This position reports to the Vice President for Administration and Finance and is responsible for providing effective financial management for the university. This position serves as a key part of the central administration of the university and represents the division to other university divisions, as well as representing the university to outside entities such as the Chancellor’s Office, Board of Regents, system legal counsel, and other organizations and agencies. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job. This position is responsible for: 30% Serving on numerous university- and system-wide committees for the purpose of developing policies and procedures. 20% Oversight of the services and accountability provided by the Controller’s Office and BCN Purchasing departments. 20% Oversight and direction of the campus audit activities and campus taxation issues to ensure compliance with university, UCCSN, state, and federal policies, rules and regulations. 15% Oversight for the independent self-supporting activities including Lawlor Events Center, Printing/Mail Services, and the University Inn. 10% Serving as the university’s administrative interface with related independent organizations such as the University of Nevada School of Medicine Practice Plan corporations, athletic booster organizations and the University Foundation. 5% 3. Representing the university before the Board of Regents and its committees, including audit, budget and finance, and investment. University faculty, staff, and administrators – to propose and implement new processes and systems. Business & Finance managers and directors – Provide supervision, guidance and assignment of special tasks and duties, as necessary. 6. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with seven years professional experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance from a regionally accredited institution with ten years professional experience. B. Minimum type and amount of work experience, in addition to the above required education, necessary for a person entering this position. Seven years progressively responsible financial management experience (ten years with a Bachelor’s degree), five years of which were in college/university, non-profit, or governmental environment, including four years supervisory experience.
