1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is
used for advertisement of the position.)
The Associate Athletics Director, Business, (AAD) oversees the budgetary, fiscal, and business
operations of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA). The individual reports directly to the
Director of ICA and serves as a member of the department’s senior executive team. The AAD assists
and advises the Director in planning, monitoring, and managing the department’s overall fiscal
responsibilities including all operational and capital requirements. The position ensures the integration
and compliance of the department’s financial and accounting activities with those of the university.

75% - Fiscal Management
 Function as ICA’s chief financial and business officer
 Prepare and oversee entire ICA budget state and self-supporting)
 Oversee cash management, accounts payable and accounts receivable
 Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual summary financial reports for the university,
conference, and National Council of Athletics Association (NCAA)
 Assist the Director with fiscal planning by preparing long- and short-range financial forecasts
 Assist the Director with policy formulation and management by serving as a senior member for
the administrative staff
20% - Department Administration
 Assist with overall administration of the department
 Chair the department’s employee athletic council
 Chair and serve on various search committees
 Ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and university rules and regulations (subject to
disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement
procedures)
5% - Athletic Events
 Provide game day management services for certain athletic events; attend as many contests
as possible to show support for the student-athletes and coaching staff
3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
This position integrates the financial, fiscal and business operations of the Intercollegiate Athletics
Department. The position is critical to the smooth functioning of the department of ICA in that
coaching and administrative staff members must be apprised at all times of the accuracy of their
budgets. The incumbent has great latitude to establish and implement actions/policies/directives,
within established Board of Regents and Institutional guidelines, in order to advance the department’s
financial well-being.

Impact:
Errors in judgment and/or decisions made at this level can extend serious inconvenience to other
units and/or departments and can have a detrimental impact to the reputation of and services
provided by the department and the University.
