Corn Syrup Viscosity Plot the viscosity of diluted corn syrup, as a function of shear rate. You will need to visit the HowTo on the Wells-Brookfield shear viscometer (specifically its range tables). Since you did multiple readings, you can use error bars. The easiest way to compute this is by again combining Excel and Origin, but you can use either alone. (Check out Excel's STDEV function and/or the RowStatistics and/or ColumnStatistics functions in Origin). According to your data, is the sample shear thinning, shear thickening, or Newtonian? Repeat the problem with an offset error of 3 display units (this means, suppose you add or subtract 3 units to the digital readout because the instrument was not zeroed out correctly). Comment on the change, if any, in the interpretation of the results.
