FOR ENTERING FRESHMEN ONLY:
Essay: On a separate sheet of paper type (double-spaced) your response to the following question: “Why have
you selected journalism as your future career?” Be sure to include your name on the top of the page.
Other Written Material: Include at least one sample of your journalistic work, such as a newspaper article,
edition of a newspaper you have edited, work from your yearbook, tape, etc. If you have not worked on school
media, include an example of your non-fiction writing. Written reports or essays for classes would be
appropriate. Short stories or poetry would not be appropriate.
