Be a C.S.I

Do you have what it takes to be a crime scene investigator?? Join us as we explore the world of forensic science, solve mysteries, participate in a variety of handson experiments and have lots of fun!! We will also design and build numerous contraptions to see how they work and participate in fun competitions.

Explore Your Creative Side

Youth will explore their creative side by spending the day learning to create 2dimensional pieces taught by the artist. This will be an in-depth session which will include teaching techniques. The second project will be a fiber art project. Youth will learn about natural fibers and their qualities.

AGsploration is a national award winning curriculum designed to educate Marylanders about the state’s number one industry, agriculture. Through the use of hands on lessons, participants will learn how to teach about animal agriculture, plant agriculture, the environment and agriculture technology.

Participants in this class will have the opportunity, through a full day session, to experience most of the hands on components of the lessons. We propose to set up the training to run during all 4 concurrent sessions’ times. If participants selected the AGsplo. track they would still participate in all meals and speakers with the rest of the forum but come to us for all of their concurrent choices.

Our session would be open to adults or older youth (13+) and would run similarly to how camp sessions and the youth tracks have been offered in the past. Each one of the concurrent time sessions would cover one of the curriculum’s 4 areas: animal agriculture, plant agriculture, environment and technology.

Participants will gain knowledge in all areas of Maryland agriculture, teaching techniques, engaging youth, and the use of the experiential teaching model. This will be a highly interactive session with multiple hands-on activities. The session is designed for participants to play and have fun while learning the core curriculum. At the conclusion of the day training session participants will become core AGsplo. team teachers and help improve the reach of this agriculture literacy program. Class members will also get a free AGsplo. shirt to identify them as a team member and can be worn when out teaching.

Evaluations are one of the most under used and super important parts of the program development process. How does your camping program evaluate new ideas? Craft projects? Staff happiness? Emergency fire drills? Come and discover creative ways to evaluate all of these things, and make your camp even stronger in the process.

Do you ever feel like you best friend is a screen? Do you spend more time typing to people then you do talking to them? If you answered yes, then join us for this interactive class that will give you back the power of the spoken word and leave you with techniques that can be used at camp to demonstrate just how important talking is to so many aspects of life.

Most camps are full of silly songs, funny skits around the camp fire and parent demonstrations to highlight what the campers have done all week, but not all campers come to camp comfortable

“performing” in front of others. This session will focus on how to effectively lead songs and organize skits and demonstrations as a positive and skill building facet of your camping program.

10 Games that every camp professional should know. Things to do for every part of the camp program, from icebreakers to games to teambuilding to closing activities and more.

Have you ever come across a track on the ground and you didn’t know what it belonged to? Did you ever find something in nature you wanted to keep? What if a footprint could be solely unique to one person, animal, or object and that a footprint is the only trace you should leave behind when you are in nature? Put your detective skills into action as we examine the forensic science of footprints and the 7 principles of Leave No

Trace in wild spaces both in and outside of camp!

How do we engage youth in understanding issues in their community and then find their place in changing their community for the better? Experience a series of activities designed to prepare youth for community service through engagement with community partners.

For many of America’s youth, 4-H mentors are so much more than tutors or program leaders -- they are hope, they are comfort, they are family. They are the pathway to a promising future. Learn how to be a better 4-

H mentor with fun Hands-on activities to take back to your clubs.

Trust. It’s in the often in the news. Frequently we are seeing trust issues shorten business life and limit organizational progress. How does trust affect us in 4-H, as we prepare the next generation of leaders? In this workshop, we will examine why trust is important in our relationships, in our work, in our organizations, in our communities and beyond.

This program provides the information to help 4-H teens and adults build healthy partnerships with one another with a strong focus on the last “H” in the four 4-H’s. During this workshop you will make new connections with other teens and adults, understand the role health has on our partnerships, and learn about partnerships within our 4-H organization.

Liven Up Your

Club Meetings with Make It,

Mary Thomas

In this fun, hands-on class, participants will get the chance to get their creative juices flowing by adding their own touch to some easy craft projects that can be made with little or no cost. Their projects can be shared at club meetings, at camp, or at promotional events. While crafting, we’ll also share ideas about craft projects that have been a hit or miss with their 4-H members and talk about resources for ideas and mate rials. I’ll show some projects that have been done at 4-H camp to give them some idea on how to take a project that may be too costly to do on a large scale and show them resourceful ways to implement it at a low cost. All materials will be provided.
