Commission’s strategy for reducing average CO2 emissions of new car fleet to
120 g/km by 2012, by which 130 g/km with improvements with vehicle

public
gSafety – exchange of best practices (eSafety in Europe) to

Goal
Making Europe’s roads safer for everyone
Main activities
A joint platform involving all road safety
stakeholders to support the development,
deployment and use of Intelligent Vehicle Safety
Systems.
Main outcomes
Recommendations to the stakeholders for further
steps on different fields, e.g. RTTI, HMI, eCall, User
Outreach, Digital Maps, Communications, Research,
ICT for Clean Mobility, etc.

SAFESPOT (2006-2010)
Goal
Supporting smart vehicles on safe roads
Main activities
Development of Safety Margin Assistant that in
advance detects potentially dangerous situations and
extends in space and time drivers´ awareness of the
surrounding environment based on Vehicle to Vehicle
(V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I)
communication.

applications + system components (e.g. Local

Activity
FeedMAP (2006-2008)
Goal
Enabling quick and inexpensive map updates
Main activities
Technical and commercial feasibility of map
deviation feedback concept
Main outcomes
FeedMAP has created a novel concept feeding back
information to the map makers using detection of
map deviations in the vehicles. The concept is seen
as one of the pillar for better road map database
maintenance in the future.

EuroFOT (2008 - 2011)
Goal
Assessment of user behavior and benefits of ADAS in
large scale fleet across four Member States
Main activities
Impact assessment in real traffic conditions of 8 ADAS
applications with more than 1500 equipped vehicles
in 4 European Member States
Main outcomes
Objective measurement of the performance of
intelligent vehicle systems on the roads in real
driving conditions with real drivers over a long period
of time.

Activity
CVIS (2006 - 2010)
Goal
Facilitating vehicle and infrastructure cooperation
through “connected vehicle” technologies
Main activities
CVIS is developing an integrated platform for installation in
vehicles & roadside systems, comprising multi-channel
mobile communication, enhanced positioning and an open
service software host. CVIS resident applications include
cooperative monitoring, interactive traffic control,
personalised information & guidance and services for trucks.
Main outcomes
Proof of concept of flexible, future-proof and open platform
for multitude of services for the driver, the vehicle-maker,
the traffic manager, the fleet operator and value-added
service provider.

Key activities: i-Travel
Activity
i-Travel (2008 - 2009)
Goal
Service platform for the connected traveller
Main activities
“i-Travel” is an original concept for “the connected
traveller” that combines innovations such as a “virtual
travel assistant” service that accompanies a traveller
before and throughout each journey, providing
personalised, context-aware information and support
whenever wherever and however needed, creation of the
first B2B “eMarketplace” in the traffic and travel
information services sector.
Main outcomes
A high level architecture for the connected traveller
concept, roadmaps and technical feasibility of the concept
and virtual demonstrations

TISA (since 2008)
Goal
Ensuring synergy and adding market-driven
impetus to traffic information technologies
Main activities
TISA takes over the activities previously undertaken by the
TMC Forum, the TPEG Forum and the German Mobile.Info
project – technology development and deployment support
for TMC, TPEG and other traffic and travel information
technologies
Main outcomes
• Increased deployment and harmonisation of TMC services
worldwide
• Development of TPEG technology to standardisation with
first market implementation imminent
