reverse side, please sign and date. Tags cost $1 each and checks can be made payable to

Castration Policy of the Maryland 4-H AnSc Program: All male steers, lambs, pigs, and goats must be
neutered and healed prior to 4-H weigh-in and tagging. The only exception would be animals that
have obvious signs they have been banded, however, their scrotal sac is still intact.

July 28th – August 3rd
2012 Carroll County Fair Theme!!
“Our Kids, Our Fair, Our Future!”
The Fair online Registration should be up and
running by May 10th and the plans are to shut down
the system on June 10th, at 11:59pm!!
This month I continue my series of articles highlighting new classes or class changes for
Indoor Depts. at the 2012 County Fair.
The change in Dept. I-25 On-Site Gardens is the size for novice gardens. The new size for
Flower, Vegetable, Combination and other gardens is 50 sq. feet or over. Gardens will be
judged July 9-20, 2012.
The Home Environment Dept. will have a new class. It is Fancy Napkin Folding. The
theme wreath class has been eliminated.
4-H’ers are encouraged to give informal demonstrations during the fair. They are given in the
Red Building or they can be given in the Poultry or Rabbit Barns. Other livestock exhibitors
can give demonstrations in their area by getting permission from their superintendent. There
is little preparation and this gives 4-H'ers a chance to complete a demonstration for their
communication section of the project record sheet.
 Informal Demonstrations must be pre-entered by June 8 on the fair online entry form.
 Writing entries are due to the 4-H Office by June 8.
Next month I will conclude my series with the Foods Dept. which includes Canning, Cookies,
Fudge, Breads, Cakes, Pies and Decorated Creations.
Any questions please contact me, Sandra Stonesifer, Indoor Supt. at 410-857-0416.
