University celebrates Diamond
Jubilee and Forum opening
Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh
visited the University of Exeter on Wednesday 2 May 2012, as part of
the Diamond Jubilee Tour.

University of Exeter Registrar and Deputy Chief
Executive David Allen said: “We were delighted
and honoured to welcome Her Majesty The
Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of
Edinburgh to the University of Exeter. The visit
was a very special celebration and marked a
historic day with the flagship Forum being officially
opened.
“This remarkable new development will provide
so many facilities and opportunities for everyone
a success: from the cleaners, maintenance and
grounds staff who ensured the campus looked
stunning, to the chefs who cooked a wonderful
lunch for our Royal guests, to our students who
gave a number of fantastic music, dance and
drama performances. We were delighted that
so many people came to the campus to join the
celebrations.”
The £48 million Forum development houses a
new Student Services Centre, an extended and
refurbished Library, new technology-rich learning
spaces, a 400-seat lecture theatre, retail and
catering outlets, a landscaped piazza and a new
University reception, ensuring the University
of Exeter offers an outstanding experience for
students.
The Forum is part of a £350 million development
programme across the University’s campuses in
Exeter and Cornwall.

The University of Exeter has this week released a
new film about Science at Exeter.
The high quality 5 minute film, narrated by television
personality – and Exeter Alumnus – Steve Backshall, illustrates
the wide range of world class science and engineering
opportunities open to students across our campuses in Devon
and Cornwall.

The Afren One Planet
MBA Scholarship
The University of Exeter is delighted to
announce a unique scholarship donated by
Afren Plc.
The Afren One Planet MBA Scholarship (£34,000) covers
the full tuition fee for 2012/13, as well as accommodation
and living expenses.
Afren is keen to support the development of managerial
talent in countries in which they operate. Eligible candidates
will need to meet the full entry requirements for the MBA,
but also have a background or demonstrable interest in the
oil and gas sector and be a resident of one of the following
countries/regions: Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Iraqi Kurdistan,
Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Seychelles, and Tanzania.

New Visual Culture Combined Honours degree for September 2012
The College of Humanities has launched three new BA Combined Honours
degrees, enabling students for the first time to study Visual Culture and Art
History as part of their undergraduate degree.
