Cyber Bullying- Bullying of any type is unacceptable at Bilquist! If cell phone
messages, pictures, and/or social networking disrupts the educational
environment students can be disciplined at Bilquist.
We believe that parents have the responsibility to regulate and educate their
children in the appropriate use of this these devices to assure the educational
setting is conducive for each student to learn. If a student has a complaint about
inappropriate comments and/or messages on social networking sites such as
MySpace, parents will be informed about the complaint. Ongoing and/or
complaints that are detrimental to student safety or disruptive to the school
setting will be investigated as a school complaint.
Bilquist Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones are not allowed at Bilquist. Bilquist
School is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged cell phones. If students
bring a cell phone it is to remain in the students backpack throughout the school
day. Students cannot use cell phones to call/text during the school day.
What happens if a student has/uses a cell phone at Bilquist.
First offense: If a student has or uses a cell phone at Bilquist the teacher
will confiscate it. The phone will be returned to the child and/or parent.
Staff will use this opportunity to re-teach cell phone policy.
Second offense: Student will receive a Refocus Form. Phone will be
confiscated and the student will inform their parents to arrange a time to
pick up the cell phone from Mr. Kitchen.
Repetitive offenses: Will initiate an office referral and loss of privileges
and/or suspension from school.
School Support: Intermediate teachers will teach and discuss the effects of cyber
bullying, cell phone policies, and encourage students to speak to their parents if
they have a concern.
