Building your home routines and family schedules can be as daunting and complex as a whole elementary school! It takes both time and flexibility! The focus of the 2015-16 school year is on rock-solid instruction that reaches each child, knowing your child as a learner as well as celebrating your child’s strengths and identity. The learning expectations are high at Mount Scott and built on strong relationships with students and families. It will be a fantastic school year! Schools have become much more complex and busy from the time that we attended elementary school. What is so amazing is that most of our staff remembered their 2nd grade teacher! In addition about 10 of our staff remembered all of their teachers from elementary school. The years at Mount Scott will be part of your student’s life story! My name is Kathleen Egli and it is great to be back as the school counselor at Mount Scott! I would like to introduce myself, explain the types of services that I provide and to find out if I can be of assistance. My goal at Mount Scott is to help support the social, emotional, physical and academic needs of students. I provide counseling guidance curriculum in the classrooms, meet with students individually and in groups (with parent permission), and I also provide observations and assistance in the classroom. I strongly believe in family involvement when I work with students individually or in groups. The classroom guidance lessons that I provide address topics such as problem solving (Kelso), communication, friendship, bullying prevention, and safety. I also may consult with teachers, the principal and other school staff to facilitate success for your student I also want to let you know some things about my employment background. I have worked as a school counselor in the district for over 10 years. I have over twenty-five years of experience working in a variety of settings with children, their families and with school personnel. For some of you who might be struggling financially or in other areas, I also would like to let you know about available resources at school and in the community. If you are interested in resources, please fill out the form below, send it back to me and I will be glad to follow-up with you. Feel free to call me at 503-353-5504 (direct #), stop by or send a confidential email to me at eglik@nclack.k12.or.us to discuss how I can be of help.
