Mount Scott Families,
I hope your start of the school year has been a good one! Building your home routines and family
schedules can be as daunting and complex as a whole elementary school! It takes both time and flexibility!
The focus of the 2015-16 school year is on rock-solid instruction that reaches each child, knowing your
child as a learner as well as celebrating your child’s strengths and identity. The learning expectations are
high at Mount Scott and built on strong relationships with students and families. It will be a fantastic school
year!
Schools have become much more complex and busy from the time that we attended elementary school.
What is so amazing is that most of our staff remembered their 2nd grade teacher! In addition about 10 of our
staff remembered all of their teachers from elementary school. The years at Mount Scott will be part of
your student’s life story!
Some reminders:
7:20 Students arrive (please do not drop off before this time)
7:25 Students can go to the gym or cafeteria for breakfast.
7:40 Students to classrooms

Full House Awards- When a classroom has 100% of students in school and on time the classroom
receives a “Full House” award. The classroom with the most Full House Awards each month gets a
popcorn party! Attendance and timeliness matters!
Parent Drop Off/Pick-up- Please drive with caution and patience!
If you ever have a question or concern always feel free to stop in, email or call. I will try to get back to you
or make time in the moment to have a conversation. I look forward to a fantastic year!

SCHOOL SAFETY - BADGES
We expect all North Clackamas staff, parents,
visitors or volunteers in our school to wear
identification badges or name tags at all times (no
matter how long or short your visit is). This
expectation is for the safety of all children and
allows us to immediately monitor adults in our
school. It’s everyone’s responsibility to keep our
building safe.

CHANGE OF DESTINATION
CLASSROOM BIRTHDAY PARTIES
If your child is going somewhere other than his or her regular
destination after school or if someone different will be picking
up your child after school, we must have a note from you
that tells us that information. Please do not call and
request changes in destination. We must have written
verification. We value the safety of your child too much to
make exceptions.
In an effort to minimize classroom interruptions and maximize
teaching time, Mount Scott classrooms will
celebrate birthdays once a month.
Please contact your student’s teacher
to find out when monthly birthday celebrations are being held.
Adopt-A-Classroom
Every year, Mount Scott families and local businesses have an opportunity to Adopt-A-Classroom! This
means the sponsor adopts a classroom of their choice to help the teacher defray classroom supply costs
or allow the class to do something they wouldn’t usually be able to.
It is not too late to Adopt-A-Classroom! For complete details, talk to a teacher or request an adoption form
from the office. Thank you for your support!

COUNSELOR CORNER
Hello Mount Scott families! My name is Kathleen Egli and it is great to be back as the
school counselor at Mount Scott! I would like to introduce myself, explain the types of services
that I provide and to find out if I can be of assistance.
My goal at Mount Scott is to help support the social, emotional, physical and academic
needs of students. I provide counseling guidance curriculum in the classrooms, meet with
students individually and in groups (with parent permission), and I also provide observations and
assistance in the classroom. I strongly believe in family involvement when I work with students
individually or in groups. The classroom guidance lessons that I provide address topics such as
problem solving (Kelso), communication, friendship, bullying prevention, and safety. I also may
consult with teachers, the principal and other school staff to facilitate success for your student
I also want to let you know some things about my employment background. I have
worked as a school counselor in the district for over 10 years. I have over twenty-five years of
experience working in a variety of settings with children, their families and with school personnel.
For some of you who might be struggling financially or in other areas, I also would like to
let you know about available resources at school and in the community. If you are interested in
resources, please fill out the form below, send it back to me and I will be glad to follow-up with
you. Feel free to call me at 503-353-5504 (direct #), stop by or send a confidential email to me
at eglik@nclack.k12.or.us to discuss how I can be of help. I work Mondays, Wednesdays and
every other Friday. I am looking forward to hearing from you! Thank you!
