Minutes
The Board of Trustees of Houston Community College held a Special Meeting on
Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the HCC Administration Building, 3100 Main, 2nd Floor,
Seminar Room A, Houston, Texas.

CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Davila called the meeting to order at 9:18 a.m. and declared the Board convened
to consider matters pertaining to Houston Community College as listed on the duly
posted Meeting Notice.
Motion – Mr. Austin moved and Mrs. Sane seconded to approve the following items
as a consent agenda:

Resolution Acknowledging and Accepting Verified Petitions for an Election on
the Annexation of North Forest, Publication of a Service Plan for North Forest
and Setting Dates for a Public Hearing on the Issue Of Annexation of North
Forest and the Proposed Service Plan

Resolution Acknowledging and Accepting Verified Petitions for an Election on
the Annexation of Spring Branch, Publication of a Service Plan for Spring
Branch and Setting Dates for a Public Hearing on the Issue of Annexation of
Spring Branch and the Proposed Service Plan
Mr. Austin complemented the Chancellor, Deputy Chancellor, presidents,
administration and community on a job well done.
Mr. Schechter yielded to Dr. Hodges who introduced Ben Gillis and Chuck Davidson
from the Spring Branch community.
Mr. Schechter associated with Mr. Austin on complementing Dr. Spangler and the
administration as well as the community for their efforts.
Dr. Spangler acknowledged Dr. Ford Fisher and Dr. Hodges for their lead in the
educational engagement in the North Forest and Spring Branch areas. She also
acknowledged the Board for their support.
Dr. Spangler apprised that 5122 signatures were received in North Forest of which
3348 were verified and 9315 were received for Spring Branch of which 6334 were
verified. She also expressed appreciation to the staff that assisted with the
signature verification.
Dr. Spangler recognized Tanya Fisher of Andrews Kurth for her guidance to ensure
HCC is in compliance with the annexation process.
Mrs. Flores expressed appreciation to Spring Branch and North Forest for their
efforts in the annexation process.
Mrs. Flores announced that public hearings are scheduled as follows:

July 16, 2009 in Spring Branch
Mrs. Sane added a note of thanks to those who have assisted with the effort.
Vote – the motion passed with a vote of 5-0.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:29 a.m.
