Homework Due: Place Value Battle Created by Box Cars and One Eyed Jacks 1. Shuffle the cards (ace=1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). Deal all the cards out. 2. To play, turn two cards over to make a double digit number. Your partner does the same. 3. Flip a penny. If the penny lands on heads-whoever has the greatest two digit number gets the cards. If it lands on tails-whoever has the smallest two digit number gets the cards. 4. Don’t forget your math talk! “______ is greater than ______” or _______is less than ________” depending on the flip of the coin. 5. Take turns turning over your two cards and then flipping the coin. If you and your partner end up turning over the same cards you will have a battle! 6. Each of you should lay three cards from your pile face down and then two cards face up. Whoever wins depends on the flip of the coin. Want a challenge? Figure out the difference between the two double digit numbers (ex you made 82 your partner made 92 the difference is 10). There is a video available so you can watch how to play the game if you have any additional questions. http://www.lz95.org/classes/mathvideos_sweider/ ____________________________________________ played Place Value Battle _________ time(s).
