Black and White
You will compose a letter based on your reading of the novel Black and White.
In your letter you will take the position of one of the following characters:







Rose Russo
Mrs. Brown
Mr. Russo
Ms. Sussman
Coach Casey
Sabrina
Jefferson
You will then select if you would like to write a letter to Eddie, who is away at college, or Marcus, who is
in jail on Riker’s Island.
Your letter must:






Use references from the text (places, conversations between characters, interactions);
Offer advice or suggestions;
Describe the changes that have occurred at home or school in their absence;
Sound realistic;
Use the same tone and diction the characters use in the novel;
Use proper letter format (heading, greeting, body, salutation, signature). Please indent body
paragraphs.
