Diane Knight
Prior to embarking on a PhD at Cranfield, Diane spent
seven years in the technical non-woven industry as
Business Development Manager and Development
Technologist. This work involved developing profitable
new products and business opportunities in technical
industries as diverse as rail, aerospace, defence, power generation,
building and high performance automotive.
Diane’s career also includes three years marketing for the 5A rated
Computing Department at Lancaster University.
The combined experience of new product development, business
development and marketing is being utilised effectively in her PhD
research topic at the Centre for Business Performance. Diane is
researching people’s perceptions of uncertainty, how they manage
the gaps in their knowledge and how this affects the performance of
entrepreneurial teams working on radical new product development
projects. Innovation, business performance, knowledge
management and organisational learning are the key areas for this
work.
