Semi-resolved at all powers, it is a superb globular in its own right, and suffers from being too close to NGC 6205 (M13). C11 at 115x. The "other" Hercules globular. Semi-resolved under a 10-day old moon. At 193x, more stars were resolved. At the 2001 Texas Star Party, I got the chance to view this cluster through the 36-inch f9 Cassegrain at McDonald Observatory with the Chief Astronomer of the Hobby-Eberle Telescope, Matthew Shertone. He pointed out that this globular has undergone core collapse, and in the giant 36-incher, there is a definite gap or thinning out of stars between the core and the outer periphery, a feature that my 8-inch SCT misses. -3- Zone 99 C11 at 98x.
