First NGC 2775 is a peculiar blend of spiral galaxy with a smooth bulge in the center. The spiral pattern starts very abruptly outside of this region showing a mind-boggling complexity (especially at higher resolutions). The star formation is confined to this ring of tightly wound arms. Indeed this galaxy has been host to 5 supernovae explosions in the past 30 years. NGC 2775 is similiar in structure to galaxies such as NGC 2841 and NGC 488. [Source: http://www.noao.edu/outreach/aop/observers/n2775.html] Observations: C8 at 83x. Faint, but with a bright nucleus.
