The brightest stars are 12.1m and the horizontal branch is 14.4m. (This implies an age of only 9 to 10 billion years.) Classification as a globular is uncertain, because unlike most globulars, it is very metal-rich and has no RR-Lyrae variables. But recent photometric studies have found a short "horizontal branch" as noted above. Observations: C8 at 206x. Faint and semiresolved. C11 at 115x. Large and semiresolved, but faint. A 10m Y star is due N. The SW quadrant looks a little richer than the rest of it. C11 at 98x. Semi-resolved, spread out and with a core that is not very dense. It resembles a rich open cluster.
