Evidence suggests this galaxy underwent a violent starburst period about one million
years ago.
Observations:
C8 at 104x. Extremely faint. A 12m star lies off the NW edge. The halo (faint
nucleus) was mottled at medium power. There is another faint star about 1 min WNW.
Its axis runs NE-SE. Rich field.
C11 at 98x. Fairly bright and splotchy even at lower powers. An 8.5 mag star about
6 min W is tough. Not much of a nucleus.

Spectroscopic data suggests an occasional interruption of an almost steady infall of
material through the rapidly rotating emission region by outbursts of material from the
star. It is a spectroscopic binary (an RW Aur type long-period variable) with a period of
580.7 days.
Star A may be the optical counterpart to the X-ray source 4U0352+30. It may have a
neutron star as a companion, with a pulsation period of 13.924 minutes. This implies it
may have gone supernova 2 million years ago.
There is also evidence for a neutron star-like mass orbiting A in a 22.4 hour orbit.
