3/4/2013 3/24/2016 __________________ Room 103 May Whitney Elementary School This Week During Class... Language Arts: In reading, we continued to practice responding to text. The students are starting to see that it is important to plan out what you want to write. Then writing multiple sentences isn't so difficult. Hopefully this practice will take some anxiety away from the PARCC tests. Upcoming Events Good Friday, No School Friday, March 25 Spring Break Monday ,March 28Friday , April 1st PARCC Testing Begins Monday, April 4 In writing, we began the collecting stage. This is where an author does research on their topic. The hardest part seemed to be asking meaningful questions. Most of the students believed they knew all they needed to about their topic. Math: In math, we used standard algorithm to help us solve story problems using three digit numbers. We ended the week looking at dividing by nines. Although nines seem to be the hardest, we have learned many tricks to do our nine facts. Ask your child one of the tricks. Social Studies: In social studies, we discussed the roles of the vice president, governor, and mayor. We learned how a bill becomes a law and ended government learning about the national symbols. Have a great weekend!
