Two senior faculty members from one of the worlds’ leading universities; Dr David Butcher and Dr Martin Clarke will be in
Malaysia to share their knowledge, personal insights, and research into leading edge human resource management
practices.
The (2012) Masterclass Series will explore the essentials of leadership in today’s Malaysian business; - establishing high
performance teams and enabling the transition to leadership. The Masterclasses will be led by Dr David
Butcher and
Dr Martin Clarke from Cranfield School of Management’s prestigious Centre for General Management
Development in collaboration with K-Pintar Sdn Bhd and the HRDF.
Who Should Attend
This first Masterclas Series has been designed for senior and middle managers. Each of the two-day
Masterclasses will be stand-alone workshops though both will fall under the performance
management ‘umbrella’ allowing participants the opportunity to attend either one or both of the
inter-related workshops.

Dr David Butcher
David trained originally as a psychologist, and his early career was in advertising and marketing where he worked for
several multinationals, including Du Pont, in a number of European countries. He has been in management education for
twenty years, and has held positions in several major business schools. David is a leading member of Cranfield's faculty
and Director of the flagship Business Leaders’ Programme.
David acts as a consultant in a wide range of industries on an international basis,. His focus is on
developing business strategy, leadership capability at senior and top executive level, and the
constructive use of managerial politics. He has worked with organisations as diverse as Mars
Confectionery, BP, Morgan Stanley, Williams Formula One and the European Space Agency. David has
published widely on the subjects of business transformation and is a frequent speaker at both
international conferences and company seminars in many different countries.
Dr Martin Clarke
Martin’s early career was spent in manufacturing and distribution. Before joining Cranfield School
of Management in 1993, Martin worked as a director of a European business information
company. He is currently, Business and Programme Director of the flagship Cranfield General
Management Programmes portfolio that combines extensive leadership development with
enhanced strategic awareness.
Martin works as a leadership and organisation development consultant to a broad range of
international companies. His experience lies chiefly in the area of organisation and strategic
development, working with executive teams and business leaders. He is frequently asked to
comment in the press and is the author of numerous books/chapters and articles on the subject
of leadership, organisation design and the role of organisation politics in business.
