Cedar wood from California and graphite from Ceylon are layered in a machine
creating 8 pencils at a time. Six coats of lacquer are going to be applied to
highlight my cool design. Finally, a rubbery like product from the Dutch East Indies
is used for the eraser.
3. Why are you thinking of starting this company? (State your vision for
the company)
School children everywhere need them to write with. I want to create a pencil that is
unique in design and would be something kids would want to collect.
4. Where would you locate your company? Why?
Madison, NJ, so I can walk to work in order to save money on gas and
transportation.
5. Who are your potential customers?
School students
6. Who is your competition? (Create a database of all the competition
using the internet.)
Ticonderoga Pencils, office supply stores like staples, and....
7. Write a general description of your proposed business and how it
would work.
I would sell my pencils at the Farmer’s Market once a week. They will be tye-dye
colors with peace sign erasers. Young students will buy them because they are more
exciting than boring yellow pencils. I will also reach out to schools to sell them and a
portion of the sales would go back to the school. I would also sell my pencils online by
creating a website.
