On October 5, we kick off our annual Combined Charities Campaign, which continues through October 30. This is a great opportunity for HISD employees to come together in support of a wide variety of local, state, national, and global nonprofit organizations. The generosity of everyone here at HISD is impressive all year round – it’s evident in all the ways, both big and small, that you share your time, expertise, and resources with those in need. In past years, Combined Charities Campaigns have resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars being contributed to meaningful and worthy causes. These contributions make a sizable impact, both in Houston and around the world. The organizations included in the Combined Charities Campaign provide a broad range of services – help for families suffering economic hardships or recovering from natural disasters, global education, health care, social justice initiatives, and environmental projects aimed at keeping our planet safe and healthy for our children and generations to come. Everyone will be able to find an organization in this campaign that serves a cause close to their heart. Making a contribution has never been simpler. The online payroll-deduction pledge system makes it easy to contribute and ensures your privacy. If you have any questions, please contact your Combined Charities Campaign coordinator, who can help you understand how the campaign works and how to navigate the online system. Individually, we may not feel like we can do all that much, but when combined, our resources can change the world for the better. Thank you for your generous participation. Terry B. Grier, Ed.D.
