l. OVERVIEW

Cornerstone Philosophies of Project Adventure x Challenge by Choice o A chance to meet potentially difficult and frightening challenges in an environment of support, trust and caring.

o The opportunity to “back-off” when performance pressure or self doubt become too strong, knowing that an opportunity for future attempt will always be available o A chance to challenge oneself, recognizing that the attempt is more significant than performance results o Respect for individual ideas and choice x The Full Value Contract o To understand or create safe and respectful behavioral norms under which it will operate o For a commitment to those norms by everyone in the group/class o To accept a shared responsibility for the maintenance of those norms x The Experiential Learning Cycle o Based on David Kolb’s theory that learning happens most effectively in a four-step process.

ƒ Concrete experiences

ƒ Reflective observation

ƒ Abstract conceptualization

ƒ Active experimentation x The Adventure Wave o Framing o Doing o Reflecting
