Unit 1: Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Objective-Students will recognize the elements of a successful start-up and gain
a basic understanding of the fundamentals of entrepreneurship

Students will compare and contrast the different types of entrepreneurial

Unit 2: Understanding a Business Plan
Objective– Students will understand the process of creating, developing, and
proposing an original business idea
1. Students will be able to understand the purpose of writing a well-constructed
business plan. (Knowledge)
2. Students will be able to list and describe the basic elements of a business plan.

3. Students will create a business presentation outlining all facets of an original
business idea. (Product)
Unit 3– Identifying and Marketing a Product
Objective – Students will understand how to develop all aspects of a product
and/or service and learn how to utilize pricing strategies to maximize profit
1. Students will explain the importance of marketing a business. (Knowledge)
2. Students will identify the different elements of the marketing mix. (Knowledge)
3. Students will define and describe the importance of product features, branding,
positioning and competition. (Knowledge)
4. Students will create a market research survey. (Product)

Unit 4 – Location and Operation Management
Objective – Students will understand how proper location analysis/design
translates into business success
1. Students will discuss factors to consider when choosing a location for a business.

3. Students will evaluate on-line opportunities for a potential business. (Reasoning)
Unit 5 – Ownership & Legal Protection of a Business
Objective – Students will understand the ways to acquire and operate a business

2. Students will identify laws that relates to consumer protection and business

3. Students will list the different options available to protect intellectual property

4. Students will identify and evaluate licensing and insurance needs relevant to

Unit 6 – Human Resource Management
Objective – Students will understand how to manage all of the factors of
production associated with business ownership
1. Students will explain how to determine staffing needs for a business.

2. Students will evaluate the usefulness of different options for recruiting

3. Students will be able to analyze the different methods often used to motivate

Unit 7 - Financial Aspects of Operating a Business
Objective – Students will be able to manage all financial services associated with
business management
1. Students will describe strategies for managing cash flow. (Knowledge)
2. Students will evaluate a business’s performance through financial statement
analysis. (Reasoning)
3. Students will estimate startup costs and net worth of potential businesses
