Title & brief description of PhD project (suitable for publication on web):
Finite Coxeter groups and their algebras.
A finite Coxeter group is a group generated by reflections, describing the symmetries of higher dimensional analogues of the Platonic solids, and related phenomena in nature and mathematics.
Each Coxeter group gives rise to various algebras: the group algebra, the descent algebra, Iwahori-Hecke algebras, the face monoid algebra of the reflection arrangement, and more. In this project we study relationships between these algebras through theoretical and experimental methods: computer implementations of algebraic objects are developed to aid the structural investigation.

Unique selling points of PhD project in NUI Galway:
NUI Galway projects should emphasise features that are not typically available in Brazil – specific equipment, multi-disciplinarity, aspects of structured programme, links with industry, placements, links with other research groups etc.
The DeBrun Centre for Computational Algebra at NUIG offers a unique environment for research in computational algebra and related areas, with highly experienced staff, a large postgraduate community, and many international research links.
