CIRG has been in existence since 1998 with in excess of 140 peer-reviewed publications in the following domains: Information Retrieval, Evolutionary Computation, Agent based systems , Computational Intelligence in games, Evolutionary Game Theory. Title & brief description of PhD project (suitable for publication on web): Examining the use of Evolutionary Algorithms in Evolutionary Game Theory Evolutionary game theory (EGT) is the application of game theory to evolving populations on artificial life organisms. EGT allows the researcher to examine dynamic games, which are centered, not by the idea of rational players, but on the population dynamics. This project examines the use of evolutionary algorithms and their representations in the study of population dynamics. The project examines the effects of altering the representation of the evolutionary algorithm to introduce a number of biological concepts and to analyse the impact of a multi-layered representation on population dynamics. Version 2 Universidade Nacional da Irlanda em Galway -- Ciência sem Fronteiras Unique selling points of PhD project in NUI Galway: Both the PI and CIRG has experience in the fields of evolutionary algorithms and evolutionary game theory. Collaboration links also exist with fellow researchers in other disciplines within the university. The university also has in place suitable supports for international students (International Office), structured PhD programmes where students can actively support their research through related modules.
