CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
COURSE DESCRIPTION
A practical approach designed for the general manager that provides a knowledge base in basic
human resource topics, as well as an in-depth analysis of important current issues in the field.
Through text readings, case studies, experiential exercises, Internet activities, and research,
students will learn to synthesize and integrate theory with application and evaluate the
effectiveness of an organization’s human resources.
RATIONALE
No manager can consistently manage effectively or efficiently without a thorough understanding

Discussion Board Forums (3)
Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student
will be participating in 3 Discussion Board Forums. The student is required to
provide a thread of 400–1,000 words in response to the provided prompt for each
forum. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other
classmates’ threads; each reply must be 250–300 words. Each thread and reply
must be written in current APA format and must include a minimum of 2
scholarly sources, the course textbook, and biblical integration. Sources such as
Wikipedia are not scholarly sources and will not count toward the required
number of sources.
D.
Case Studies (3)
Each case study response must be at least 3 pages, double-spaced, and in current
APA format. Each assignment must include a title page and a reference page.
There must be at least 4 scholarly sources plus the course textbook. Each case
study paper must also include biblical integration and will be submitted via
SafeAssign. (Note: This is not a question/answer paper. Each case study must be
formatted as a standard APA research paper. The paper content must address the
appropriate responses to the questions in the narrative portion of the paper.)
E.
HR Policy Research Paper
In preparation for the creation of the small business HR policy manual (see item

topics. This is in order to provide researched rationale for the nature and
substance of the policy manual in a 7–10-page research paper that will be
submitted prior to the policy manual. The paper must include at least 10 scholarly
references in addition to the textbook and the Bible. A careful review of the HR
Policy Research Paper Grading Rubric is suggested to ensure the paper
submission meets all requirements.
