Your Thought Leaders Professor Marek Szwejczewski is the Director of Cranfield’s renowned Best Factory Awards and co-author of ‘Learning from World-Class Manufacturers’. Marek has received significant public and private funding for his research on factory performance in the UK and has co-authored several major reports. He is Director of the Global Manufacturing Roundtable at Cranfield which works with manufacturing companies on projects to improve operational competitiveness and performance. Marek’s current research interests are manufacturing strategy, identifying customer hidden needs, supplier management, sustaining change initiatives, and new product portfolio management. Dr Alan Cousens is a visiting lecturer at Cranfield University’s School of Management, and a Principal Industrial Education Fellow at The Institute for Manufacturing in the University of Cambridge. Alan teaches at degree level and also executive education, working with managers from a wide range of business, from start-ups to multi-national companies. His interactive teaching reflects his practical career experience and academic work, and includes leadership, operations, management of innovation, and industrial economics. Before joining Cranfield, Alan was Managing Director in a variety of high technology manufacturing companies, all operating internationally.
