AbstractID: 9810 Title: Performance Assessment of Indirect Flat Panel DR Systems
X-ray imaging digital detectors based on amorphous silicon (aSi) flat panel arrays and Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillators have been
developed for radiographic, mammographic and fluoroscopic applications. Unique attributes of detector implementation including
detector design are discussed. The performance metrics addressed focus on quantitative measures for indirect flat-panel detector. We
present image quality (IQ) assessment methodologies that are used to quantitatively assess the performance of DR systems over the
clinical life of the system. The presented quantitative assessment measures (e.g. uniformity, resolution, noise, etc) adequately define
the ability to verify proper clinical operation that gives the customer confidence and meets regulatory requirements.
Key words: X-ray detector, digital radiography, amorphous silicon, thin film transistor, image quality, flat-panel
