ALGEBRA I
I.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Algebra I is a math course that presents the fundamental concepts of algebraic thinking
and operations. The course will give students instruction and practice in the areas of
equations, functions, systems of equations and inequalities, exponents, polynomials and
factoring. The student will also investigate topics related to quadratic functions and
equations, exponential and radical functions, and data analysis and probability. As the
student progresses through the course he/she will be presented the material through
video lecture, daily practice, remediation as needed, and preparation for further math
studies.

MODULE 3: LINEAR FUNCTIONS, SEQUENCES, & RATE OF CHANGE
MODULE 4: SLOPE-INTERCEPT, POINT-SLOPE, & SOLVING SYSTEMS OF EQUATIONS BY
SUBSTITUTION/ELIMINATION
MODULE 5: LINEAR INEQUALITIES & SEMESTER EXAM
MODULE 6: EXPONENTS & POLYNOMIALS
MODULE 7: FACTORING METHODS & QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS AND EQUATIONS
MODULE 8: THE QUADRATIC FORMULA, PROBABILITY, & GRAPHING DATA
MODULE 9: EXPONENTIAL, RADICAL, & RATIONAL FUNCTIONS
MODULE 10: SOLVING RATIONAL EQUATIONS & SEMESTER EXAM

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Course must be completed within 10 months. Students must follow the sequential order
of assignments in order to progress.
