Reading comprehension Strategy Strategy: See, Think, Wonder (STW) Appropriate Grade Level: K-3 Procedures/Steps: STW is a reading comprehension strategy designed for emergent readers. STW is a questioning technique that uses the illustrations in picture books to help foreshadow the text. Students are encouraged to think about and respond to the following questions: “What do I see?” “What do I think?” “What do I wonder” Comments and/or tips: STW is used to further involve students in a wholelanguage learning experience. The illustrations can tell as much of the story as the text.
