Subject Area: Math Skills Strategy: Estimation Appropriate Grade Level: Pre K- 5 Procedures/Steps: 1. Fill a glass or clear plastic jar with a random number of objects. For example marbles. 2. Have the students guess how many of the objects are in the jar. For example 25 marbles. 3. Have the students write down their estimate on a piece of paper. 4. Once you have everyone’s guess count out the marbles together. Comments and/or tips: This activity is good for teaching counting, estimation, and writing numerals.
