The minutes from August 5, 2015 have been stricken from the agenda.
The Senate took a break at 3:07 p.m.

Information Items
a.
Development of student surveys at all SGA events.
President Schultz plans to talk with President Sheehan once a month to discuss which question to survey
students.
Vice President Gabbidon asked if this is a word-of-mouth thing or if we can make this a Facebook survey
on our page. Treasurer Turner stated that he agrees with Vice President Gabbidon about making this a
Facebook survey.

i. Activities Committee – Senator Ayaka stated that the 8/6 was cancelled and the next meeting will
be on 8/20.

Member Reports
i. Spencer Schultz, President – No report.
ii. Cheril Gabbidon, Vice President – She that the retreat was informative and great for team building
and the Google presentation by Michelle Montoya was very useful for upcoming projects. She also
stated that she is working on the Marketing Masterplan for the fall semester. She went to the
Nevada Student Alliance meetings on July 8 and August 10 where they discussed statewide
initiatives including registration and voting rallies and a LinkedIn initiative. She also stated that the
Dress For Success For Less Fashion Show will be in October. It will be hosted by the Career
Center. She wants to propose to the Activities Committee to add this event to the budget and
calendar. She also mentioned that Roza Weller needs someone to present for her class on
Tuesday, September 22 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. She also stated that she
emailed all of the EPY, Political Science, English, and Math teachers she could find in the directory
and asked to present in their classes.
iii. David Turner, Treasurer – No report.
iv. Hannah Wilkening, Secretary – She encouraged member of the Senate to write or type up their
member reports and give them to her either before or after the meeting.

vii. Jacob Allen, Senator, Division of Business – He stated that he has been in communication with the
Business Division and its Dean in preparation for this school year and they all met in the morning
on Friday, August 19. He also stated that he is speaking to the Access, Outreach and Recruitment

Public comment will be taken during this agenda item. No action may be taken on a matter raised under this item until
the matter is included on an agenda as an item on which action may be taken. Comments will be limited to two

Section 2. Responsibilities
A. SGA Clubs and Organizations Chair. The SGA Clubs and Organizations Chair shall:
a. Make recommendations to the SGA Senate regarding new clubs and renewing club and
organization applications;
b. Ensure clubs and organizations are adhering to the club and organization requirements as outlined
in the SGA Bylaws and SGA Clubs and Organizations Policies;
c. Promote student participation in current clubs and organizations;
d. Encourage and foster the development of new clubs and organizations;
e. Advertise recognized and approved club and organization events on SGA social media outlets;
f. Provide recommendations for approval to the SGA of all SGA Club and Organization events;
g. Keep a running list of SGA approved club events;
h. Provide club and organization training.
B. SGA Activities Chair. The SGA Activities Chair shall:
a. Chair the SGA Activities Committee;
b. Prepare and post the approved agenda for the Activities Committee meetings in compliance
with the Nevada Open Meeting Law;
c. Create Activities Committee Minutes and audio recordings, and make activities records and
reports available to members and the community as required by the Nevada Open Meeting
Law;
d. Provide training on event planning;
e. Plan, implement, and execute all SGA sponsored and co-sponsored events with assistance from the
SGA Vice President.
C. SGA Division of Technical Sciences. The SGA Senator for the Division of Technical Sciences shall:
a. Serve as the SGA Senate representative for the Division of Technical
Sciences; b. Serve as the SGA Senate representative on the TMCC Transit
Task Force;
b.c. Serve a minimum of two (2) office hours per month at the TMCC IGT Applied Technology Center.
D. SGA Division of Business. The SGA Senator for the Division of Business shall:
a. Serve as the SGA Senate representative for the Division of Business;
b. Serve as the SGA Senate representative on the TMCC Financial Literacy Committee;
c. Serve a minimum of two (2) office hours per month at the TMCC Meadowood Center.
