You are required to have a minimum of five (5) written research resources- such
as books, journals, magazine articles, research papers, anything that requires
you to read, a piece of paper and visit a library. You will be allowed a maximum
of two (2) website sources.
The goal of this paper is to have you the student complete research. Sit in a
library and read.
You will review one of the quotes below and support your opinion with support
that also includes possible cases, decisions from a judge, current government
documents that support your position.
You will select only one of the following eight quotes. Select only one!! Review
the rubric for the best results. If you require any assistance please make an
appointment to see me on period two or after school. You must seek assistance,
if you need help please ASK
1. “The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons”
2. Canada is a country whose main exports are hockey players and cold fronts. Our main imports are
baseball players and acid rain.
3. Nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which
cannot be enforced.
4. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.
5. A judge is a law student who marks his own examination papers.
6. The legislature's job is to write law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret law.
7. That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.
8. An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.
