name is Lester B. Pearson and you are Canada's Secretary of State.
This is the height of the Cold War and tensions between USA and the (ISSR have never
been higher. The world is horrffied because a large wqr seems to be brewing in the
Middle East. It is your job to stop this was before it gets any bigger.

Suez Canal is a waterway that has been dug through Egypt. It connects the
Mediterranean Sea with the Indian Ocean. Therefore ships from Europe don't
have to go around Africa to get to Asia and the Pacific. It saves about 6000 miles.
The Canal belongs to Britain and is vital to British Sea Power and Trade.
Egypt has forcefully taken control of the Canal.
Israel, France and Britain have all invaded Egypt in an attempt to take the Canal
back.
Egypt is a ally and trading partner with the USSR and the USSR has threatened to
get involved in the war.
The USA is prepared to back Britain and France

Since the end of the waL Canada has truly embraced the international approach and is a
major backer of the (lnited Ir{ations and the Multi-National approach to solving
problems. As Canada's representative to the United Nations, it is your job to present a
plan that would bring peace to the region.
