Appendix-1: Daily School Prayers
Holy Name of Mary Catholic Secondary School is a prayer-filled Christian learning community.
Along with daily prayers and reflections taking place in all Religious Education classes;
School-wide prayers are said over the public address at the start of each class.
Start of Period-1: Oh Canada and Morning Reflection
Whole school stands respectfully for playing of the National Anthem followed by Morning
Reflection over the public address:
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,

Start of Period-2: School Pledge
I am a Holy-Namer.
I am unique, but I support and celebrate diversity.
I am a young woman who knows my beliefs; lives by them, and defends them.
I believe in the power of being an active member of a community.
I believe in the value of relationships based on honesty, equality and communication.
I will love and respect God, self and others.
I will act justly, be responsible, and honour my commitments.
I will walk humbly with my God.
I am a Holy-Namer.
Start of Period-3: The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known
That anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help,
Or sought your intercession were left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
Before you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petition,
But in your mercy hear and answer my prayers. Amen
Start of Period-4: The Angelus
V: The Angel of the Lord declared onto Mary.
R: And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
V: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
And at the hour of our death. Amen
V: Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R: Be it done to me according to your word.
V: Hail Mary full of grace…
R: Holy Mary, Mother of God…
V: And the Word was made flesh.
R: And dwelt among us.
V: Hail Mary full of grace…

V: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Start of Period-5: Glory Be To The Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
