Spring is just around the corner and temperatures are rising! Please
send your child to school prepared for outdoor recess. They should
have warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots.

We have had many days of indoor recess this winter because of
temperature and wind chill, so we know the kids are excited to get
back outside more regularly!

Testing
4th grade
4th graders will take the AIR Social Studies Performance Based
Assessment on Tuesday, March 10. This is the final Performance
Based Assessment. The End of Year Assessments will begin on April
20. More information is available here.
2nd grade
2nd graders will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) on March
11-13. More information is available here.
Thank you for your patience with testing. If you have questions please
contact your child's teacher.
Family Game Night is March 27
Our rescheduled Family Game Night is on Friday, March 27, 6:308:00 pm. A new RSVP form was sent home or you can download
it here.
Please try to submit your RSVP by March 20 so we can get an idea of
the number of people coming. Admission is $10 for a family up to 6
people ($1 more for each additional family member). Admission will
be collected at the event. All proceeds benefit Make a Wish.

with several staff members and were recognized with a personal visit
from me to their classroom.
Our next Totally Awesome Tuesday is March 31. We are now
focusing on the attribute OPEN-MINDED and the
attitudes INTEGRITY, and TOLERANCE. You will find more

Thank you to all who attended our Thursday morning PTA meeting.
We had a nice turnout, with lots of great information and discussion
about the things going on at Bassett and in the District. Next month's

to a great start last Tuesday. The students
broke out into groups, came up with an
Essential Agreement for Garden Club and
decorated their Garden Club journals
that we will use at every meeting to log
what they have done and wish to do. And
boy do we have a lot to do! Can't wait for Tuesday!

Seussical the Musical Jr.
Wednesday, March 18
1st grade students will perform "Seussical the
Musical Jr." on Wednesday, March 18 at 1:15 pm
in the Bassett gymnasium. If you are unable to
attend at 1:15 pm, you are welcome to come at
9:30 am when they perform the program for the
school.
The concert is approximately 30 minutes in length. Students should
wear jeans and a solid-colored red or white shirt. If you have any
questions, please contact Mrs. Schillinger at schillinger@wlake.org.
DVD Orders
An edited DVD of the performance is available for purchase through
Bassett PTA for $10. The DVD order form is available here. Please
make checks payable to Bassett PTA. Orders are due by Friday,

Basketball game and more!

It's Westlake High School Seniors vs. Westlake City
Schools Staff this very special basketball game to raise
money for WHS Student Scholarships. It's sure to be a fun
night for the whole family with raffles, silent auctions, children's
activities, concessions and more.
Doors open at 6:00 pm; game time is 7:00 pm.

For our Artist in Residence program this year, we are excited to
welcome Steve Harpster on Friday March 27.

Mr. Harpster will show our students how easy it is to draw fun, cartoon
characters by starting with a number or letter. He breaks drawing
down into simple steps by adding lines and shapes to numbers and
letters.

Calendar for March
to be used in recycled art projects
Bassett art room is looking for your help in the collection of plastic
bottle caps, aluminum soda cans, and Styrofoam egg cartons to
be used for recycled art projects. Bottle caps can be deposited in the
box located in the main lobby. Soda cans and egg cartons can be
brought directly to the art room or dropped off next to the bottle cap
donation box in the main lobby.

DEMON GREEN BASH
WHS Stadium Improvement Fundraiser
March 14, 7:00 pm
The Westlake Athletic Development Foundation will
host its third annual Demon Green Bash on
Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 pm at St. Clarence
Pavilion. This event raises funds for the installation
of a state-of-the art artificial playing and marching
surface at Westlake High School Stadium. Click

GREEN & WHITE REVUE
March 21 & 22
WHS Performing Arts Center
The Westlake High School PTSA proudly presents
the 30th Annual Green & White Revue Talent Show
on Saturday March 21 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday
March 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westlake High School
Performing Arts Center. The Green & White Revue
provides an opportunity for students throughout the district to
showcase their many talents for the community.
This year's show includes one very talented student from Bassett as
well as over 70 students in the Westlake District performing acts that
range from vocal, instrumental, lyrical and Irish dance, rock bands to
vocal comedy.
Admission for the show is $8.00 at the door with children six and
under admitted free. Doors will open 1/2 hour before show times. All
proceeds to benefit Westlake High School PTSA. For additional

PARENTING PROGRAM:
Power Struggles & Control Issues
March 25, 6:30-8:00 pm
Dover Intermediate School
The Westlake Council of PTAs and School Counselors are
sponsoring "Power Struggles and Control Issues, What's a Parent to
Do?", a free parenting program designed to give practical skills that
can be used immediately with preschool through teenage children.
This one session program will be held on Wednesday, March 25 from
6:30 pm-8:00 pm in the Dover Intermediate School Band Room, 2240
Dover Center Rd. No pre-registration is required and the event is free
of charge. The flyer is available here.
